M-Pro was always a highlight from way back in my tape trading days. I was always fascinated with how they could transition from massive shows and then the following week, be working out of a high school gym in front of an audience who had to sit on the floor.
For those not aware, M-Pro with guys like Sasuke, Delfin, Ultimo Dragon helped to pioneer the style known as lucharesu. A mixture of high flying lucha libre (with masks) and puroresu (Japanese pro wrestling). And with the current state of wrestling in Japan, I'm pretty glad that M-Pro is still going.
- Numajiro Kesen vs. Keisuke Goto (WAVE)
Nothing match, with hardly anything shown. Ends with Kesen submitting Goto with El Nudo. [meh]
- Eagles Mask vs. Nogyo Boy Raito
A lot of playing to the crowd for this one, with quick, silly exchanges. Lots and lots of talking which was lost on me. Crowd thought it was funny though. Ends with the ref sending Eagles Mask into Raito who falls on top of Eagles Mask to get the pin.
- Yapperman #3 & Riho vs. Emi Sakura & ‘kotori’
Match is shown already in progress and starts with Yapperman throwing elbows. Nice spot with Yapperman and Riho both jumping off the middle rope to deliver a double double foot stomp. Ouch. Diving crossbody whilst Kotori was sitting in the ropes also looked like it would bloody hurt. Yapper #3 gets the pin after a German Suplex Hold on ‘kotori’.
This was a good match and Yapperman impressed, Riho was also good but she's incredibly thin, to the point where her offense isn't very believable. [fun]
- Jinsei Shinzaki & Ultimo Dragon vs. Ken45° & Kengo
Jinsei was so cool with the tattoo facepaint that he used to cover his body with. He is in incredible shape here, especially for being 50 years old. Both he and Ultimo get to have their own entrance. I'm also reminded how awesome Dragons ring gear is (he's also 50 and looks incredible, to the point where I need to go the gym).
We don't even see Ken and Kengo get their entrance. It's not a long match, and was mostly to show that Shinzaki and Dragon can still go. Ken45 and Kengo are good, but you'd never know it from this match. Ends with Shinzaki ruining the back of Kengos head with the Nenbustsu Powerbomb [OK]
- Kenbai, Rui Hyugaji & Ikuto Hidaka vs. Fujita Jr Hayato, Manjimaru & Takeshi Minamino
Match starts in progress. The only one I know in the match is Fujita. He has some wicked kicks which look like they could burst your lungs. Cool bit where instead of a chop exchange, we get kicks to the chest. Ends with a nasty headbutt and three big boots to the face. Fujita does a running punt to a guys shoulder on the outside that was borderline criminal.
Good sprint where everyone gets to do something, but it doesn't feel too spotty. The finisher is a Michinoku driver variation where the head is spiked of on their back. Thankfully it finished the match as it looked brutal. Really good match and definitely need to see more of Fujita.
Manjimaru pinned Kenbai following the Manji-Otoshi. [Good]
- Space Great War 11 ~ FAKE ~ Please Do Not Tell Anyone. Shock Main Event: The Great Sasuke, Shu Brahman, Kei Brahman, Ultraman Robin & Mothra (Mini Master) vs. Killer Crock GAINA, Harley Quinn #2, Dead Shot #1, Gunji, and Shin Minya (Taro Nohashi)
And now the real reason why you'd watch this show, I'm going to describe it as best I can, but at times I wasn't sure if I was suffering with a migraine.
Starts with a recap of all the absolutely ridiculous bumps that Sasuke has taken. He's pretending to be old, hard of hearing and using a stick. Oh and randomly playing the piano. There's also a fake Sasuke, with a guy in a lab coat who he is trying to identify. Someone dresses like the Joker, and there's a moth guy. And a guy holding a plastic crocodile.
That all make sense?
The team facing sasuke are dressed like the suicide squad. A guy on Sasukes team is dressed like one of the Ultraman characters and someone dressed like Mothra is carried in by two slaves. By carried in, I mean he's bundled into the ring in a sac as he's still in the larvae stage of his life (obviously). Guy covered in silver paint slowly walks in whilst a prop of the Tokyo Tower is wheeled in behind him. He has a tail.
At this point I'm not sure who is on each team.
Sasuke makes his grand entrance. He's in a splendid black suit, carrying some milk and wearing a pair of sunglasses. Because he's got the mask on the glasses don't actually fit his head properly. He also doesn't come to the ring, he goes into the crowd where there is a piano and he begins to play. The crowd go silent. The Brahman bros are very impressed with his playing and display it by stealing people's drinks and throwing them into the crowd. Sasuke makes sure to pour himself a drink of milk before the match starts.
At this point I'm not sure if my sight is going out of my left eye. Sasuke struggles to drink his milk and it ends up all down his front. He'll have to make sure he cleans it properly or it will start to smell...
The match still hasn't started. We're up to introductions. Bramhans send more water into the crowd, sasuke is still drinking his milk. I think Harley Quinn is a dude.
Bell rings and it is Mothra in a bag rolling round the ring with silver dragon stomping slowly. Deadshot ends up in the ring with a gun! Shoots a couple of young boys and no one is bothered. Harley Quinn gets tagged in with a baseball bat (definitely a dude). Finally get some real wrestling which is interrupted by the Joker and Quinn kissing.
It descends into chaos with everyone out of the ring, the camera doesn't know who to follow. Then we get the appearance of a giant seven foot plastic dolphin (because why not). And a pushing contest ensues, apart from Mothra who is still crawling round.
Next a go-kart is carried out. A big petrol one, which sasuke ends up riding into a ring post. The Tokyo tower ends up in the ring, which silver dinosaur man and Ultraman fight around. Mothra is KO'd with a nasty looking shot to the head with a sign. When he comes round he crawls to the Tokyo tower and sprays white mist all over it as he creates a cocoon to attach to it with. Mothra then emerges from his sac with wings intact.
Silver dinosaur climbs Tokyo tower and attacks a couple of barbies (which the crowd boo) while mothra 'flies' towards him and knocks him off it. All the while, sasuke has a children's trike thing and is beating people over the head with it. Ultraman attempts a frog splash, but misses silver dinosaur and ends up crashing into the Tokyo tower, which is then used as a weapon.
For no reason, Ultraman starts down handstands on two chairs whilst sasuke holds him up with his head in his groin. Then the Brahmans get a rope for everyone to play tug of war, including the crowd. Silver dinosaur team wins easily and because they lost, the Brahmans cover the crowd who was helping, in water.
Sasuke starts setting up two ladders in the ring, with a bar going across them. He also puts two chairs together and lays a Barbie doll across them. Sasuke pulls himself up by the bar when the ladders are pushed over so he falls back into the chairs....
Feel like I'm hallucinating now.
A massive wooden barrel is thrown into the ring, which is where it starts to get a bit worrisome. If you've seen some of the bumps sasuke has done in this barrel, you'll know what I mean. Sasuke climbs onto a table which is put between two ladders. The barrel is passed up to him and he gets inside it. He then gets pushed off the ladder and bounces back into the ring in one of the STUPIDEST BUMPS I'VE EVER SEEN. If he'd have been a little bit further over, he'd have bounced to the outside and probably broke his neck.
He genuinely looks like he's messed his knee up as Ultraman goes over to him and they start to work round him. The magic spray even comes out. The dolphin, Ultraman and mothra are all lifted up for a mid air collision.Afterwards sasuke just starts to piledrive everyone. Ladders are put in place in the middle of the ring, sasuke goes to the top rope and has the barrel on top of him again. He gets POWERBOMBED WHILST INSIDE THE BARREL INTO TWO LADDERS!
sasuke then takes a slow buckle bomb into a ladder on the buckles. I swear he's trying to kill himself. The flash makes a run in and clears house. He pedigrees the Croc and does a huge senton and then runs off. Silver dinosaur is covered in ladders, chairs and pipes whilst sasuke does a foot stomp (which he kicks out of). Then they cover him again with chairs when sasuke does a falling backwards thing while holding the giant dolphin to finally get the pin.
I feel like I've had a stroke.
Pack it up lads, I've just seen the greatest match in the history of wrestling. [Greatest match ever]
Someone should send a copy to Cornette...
Show ends with sasuke playing the piano in ring with the brahman bros and mothra on chairs behind him while the joker films him... Sasuke then starts singing when shinzaki rings the bell and basically tells him to pack it in.
